BBA Admission 2026: Eligibility, Fees, Specialisations and What Comes After

IFTM University•6 Oct 2026

Every year, a chunk of Class 12 students rule themselves out of a business degree for the wrong reasons. They assume BBA needs a commerce background, or strong maths, or an entrance exam they never prepared for. None of that is true. BBA is open to every stream, most private universities admit on Class 12 marks alone, and the total three-year cost at a UP private university can be less than a single year at a metro B-school. Here is the 2026 picture, using IFTM University in Moradabad as the reference point.

The degree in one paragraph

BBA — Bachelor of Business Administration — is a three-year, six-semester undergraduate programme. It teaches the working vocabulary of business: how companies are managed, how products are marketed, how money is accounted for, and how people are hired and led. IFTM University runs it through its School of Business Management, the same school that runs the university's MBA with its ten specialisations. That matters because it means BBA students study on a campus where management education is the core business, not a side department.

Eligibility for 2026

The entry bar is deliberately low. The standard requirements:

  • Class 12 (10+2) from a recognised board, in any stream. Commerce, science, and arts students all qualify. There is no mandatory maths requirement at most private universities.
  • Minimum 45% aggregate for general category candidates, with relaxation to 40% for SC/ST candidates. This is IFTM's stated criterion, and it matches the norm across UP private universities.
  • No entrance exam at IFTM. Admission is merit-based on Class 12 marks. Nationally, some universities use CUET UG, IPU CET, AIMA UGAT, or SET scores, but the merit route is the common one in western UP.
  • 180 seats per batch at IFTM, per aggregator listings. Admissions typically open around August with a mid-August application window.

Fees: what the aggregators say

Fee figures vary between listing sites, so treat these as reference points and confirm with the university before paying. CollegeDunia lists IFTM's BBA at Rs. 50,000 per year in tuition plus a Rs. 10,000 annual exam fee, working out to Rs. 1,80,000 for the full three years, plus a one-time Rs. 5,000 processing charge at admission. GetMyUni reports a higher total of Rs. 3,26,000 across three years, with tuition of Rs. 37,000 per year plus other charges. The gap between aggregators is normal — they update on different cycles and categorise fees differently.

For national context: BBA fees in India run from about Rs. 20,000 a year at government colleges to Rs. 2-6 lakh total at private universities, with premium B-schools charging far more. At IFTM's range, hostel is optional at roughly Rs. 45,000 a year including food, and the university runs a free bus facility. UP's post-matric scholarship schemes can offset a large share of tuition for eligible OBC, SC, ST, and minority students — file that application in the same window as admission.

What you actually study

The first year builds foundations: principles of management, business economics, financial accounting, and business communication. The second year goes functional: marketing management, human resource management, organisational behaviour, and business law. The final year turns strategic: financial management, operations, entrepreneurship, and strategic management, usually with a project or internship.

The teaching method matters as much as the syllabus. A decent BBA runs on case studies, presentations, spreadsheet work, and live projects — the point is to graduate already comfortable with the tools offices actually use. Ask any university you are considering how much of the assessment is project-based versus purely theoretical. That single question tells you more than the brochure.

The four-year option: BBA (Hons with Research)

Under NEP 2020, IFTM also lists a BBA (Hons with Research) — a four-year version with a research component in the final year. CollegeDunia lists its fee at Rs. 50,000 a year for the first three years and Rs. 1,10,000 for the research-heavy fourth year, totalling about Rs. 2,90,000. The four-year honours route is the one that keeps the door open for direct PhD admission later and carries more weight for research-oriented careers. If you are sure about management as a long-term field, the extra year is worth weighing against starting your MBA a year earlier.

Careers: what a BBA actually unlocks

A BBA does not make you a manager on day one. It makes you employable in the commercial functions of a company, which is a different and more honest promise. The typical entry roles:

  • Sales and marketing: business development executive, marketing executive, sales manager track. This is where most BBA graduates start, and it rewards communication skills over grades.
  • Finance and analytics: financial analyst trainee, business analyst, operations associate. Stronger if you pair the degree with Excel, SQL, or a data-analytics certification.
  • HR and operations: HR executive, recruiter, operations coordinator. People-facing roles where the organisational-behaviour coursework pays off directly.
  • Banking and insurance: relationship officer, branch operations, insurance advisory. A steady absorber of BBA graduates in tier-2 cities like Moradabad.

Fresher salaries nationally sit around Rs. 3-6 lakh per annum, varying sharply by city, college brand, and specialisation. The degree's real multiplier is what follows it: an MBA or PGDM roughly doubles the trajectory, and IFTM's own MBA school — with ten specialisations from marketing to agribusiness — is the natural next step on the same campus.

Who should apply

BBA suits three kinds of students. Those who want a professional, job-linked degree without committing to engineering or medicine. Commerce students who want to go deeper into business rather than the accounting-heavy B.Com route. And students from any stream who are good with people and want a degree that rewards that directly.

For the 2026-27 session at IFTM, the mechanics are simple: 45% in Class 12, no entrance exam, merit-based seats. Applications have historically opened around August. Keep your marksheets, transfer certificate, and category certificate (if applicable) ready, and apply early — the 180 seats fill on merit, and late applicants end up on waitlists regardless of their percentage.
